29th February

When I was in high school, leap day came around during that four years (of course) and in Double Octet we got to talking about it, and what do people do who are born on 29th February do?

One of our super-keener singers, a guy who'd been to Interlochen and usually got the lead roles in the plays (and the girls that I was interested in, not that I'm bitter or anything) Ahem. Bubbled over "Wow! Wouldn't that make a great plot complication for a play."
It was one of the few times I was thinking quickly enough, and I said, "You mean, he'd have a birthday every four years?"
"Yeah! Yeah!"
"So that when he's had four birthdays he'd be twenty?"
"Yes!" He started to get really excited! "Wow, no one's ever thought of this before!"
"Like Fredrick in Pirates of Penzance?"
"Yes, Exactly...Oh."

High school aside, I did get to play the Pirate King in college--and it was a very satisfactory role.
